Gene G. Partlow
Gene Partlow is the CEO of Partlow Associates, an intellectual property business consulting company. Gene works with companies to create world-class intellectual property businesses, develop an intellectual property strategy, and better leverage their IP portfolio. He also provides expert testimony in intellectual property disputes.
Prior to forming Partlow Associates, Gene created the Intellectual Property Business for The Boeing Company, beginning in 2000. Gene was a Boeing corporate Vice President, reporting to the Office of the Chairman, and President of the Boeing Management Company—a wholly owned subsidiary that managed the Boeing trademarks, copyrights, patents and trade secrets—licensing Boeing's IP as a profit center. Under Gene's leadership, Boeing launched an IP licensing program that closed licenses valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars, launched new business ventures and energized the company's inventors to generate increased invention disclosures, resulting in a fourfold increase in annual patent applications.
Prior to joining Boeing, Gene led intellectual property businesses for Lucent Technologies and AT&T. During his last year at Lucent, as Vice President of the Intellectual Property Business profit center, his team generated over $500 million in licensing revenue and filed over 2600 patent applications. Gene and his team conducted thousands of license negotiations with large and small companies, in numerous industries, located in North America, Europe and Asia.
Gene has held numerous Engineering, Finance and Marketing positions in AT&T. Gene received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and MBA (Finance) from the Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management.
Gene has been an active member, conference speaker, and Vice President of the Licensing Executive Society (USA & Canada). He also has served on the Boards of Directors of several charitable organizations.
